Casa del Musico

My review: The casa was really nice and the room had everything that one needs! Also there is a nice view from the roof terrace over the Valle de Vinales. It is possibe to sleep through the night, but it is not far to the main street, restaurants, or horseback riding/hiking tours.
The breakfast was spectacular - probably the best we had in all Cuba! The owners are very lovely. You can have very nice conversatins with them and Jorge just arranges everything for you (horseback riding tour, taxi to Cayo Jutias, taxi to your next casa, restaurant reservations). I would stay again and again.
How was your room?: Great and clean room with comfortable beds, AC, best water pressure and warm water. Also there is a big closet. The bathroom does not need to be shared and there is a separate entrance.
How was the food they offer?: Absolutely great- best breakfast in Cuba!
Other services they offer: The arrange pretty much everything you wish for for example horseback riding tour, taxi to Cayo Jutias, taxi to your next casa, restaurant reservations etc.

My review: Our visit to Jorge y Bettys Casa el Musico happened to be our first stay in a casa particular outside Havana, and we were extremely pleased by the wholehearted welcome, the high standard of the house and the excellent food. After this experience, we somewhat expected all casas particulares in Cuba to be like this, which, however, turned out not to be the case... However, that is another story.
The location of the house is very convenient - close to the center of Vinales, but though in a quiet corner of the city where you only hear the sounds of the hens in the garden and the raindrops on the roof. Yes, we had some rain during our stay, but that only added an extra flair to the landscape.
How was your room?: The room was excellent - nice beds, sufficient space for suitcases and clothing, and a bathroom where everything was in splendid condition, and all this spotlessly clean.
How was the food they offer?: The food could not have been better. The breakfast included a lot of fruit and vegetables and freshly baked bread. In the evening, we went for the three-coarse-dinner of the casa. We tried the grilled fish and the lobster - recommendable!
Other services they offer: Our stay was too short to do more than taking the Vinales hop-on-hop-off bus to the most important sights, but we enjoyed the insights our host gave us into the Cuban music life. Moreover, it was interesting to watch on television with our hosts the first visit of an US-president to Cuba in years.

My review: La casa de jorge et betty est tres agreable. L'entrée des chambres est independante et donne sur un grand jardin avec chaise pour se reposer. Elle est située en dehors de la rue principale, a quelques minutes de marche du centre, et a proximité immédiate des tours dans les champs, et au calme.
Les chambres sont bien équipées, fonctionnelles et propres.
How was your room?: Chambre parfaite, nous avons tres bien dormi, et nous n'avons pas rencontre de problème, type douche, eau ou électricité
How was the food they offer?: Les repas sont tres bons et copieux , notamment la langouste!
Other services they offer: Jorge et betty sont attentionés et necessitent pas a vous aider pour que votre séjour se passe bien (guide, taxi, recommandations de restaurant)

Casa El Musico

My review: We stayed in Casa El Musico for three nights. Our visit to Viñales was one of the highlights of our trip to Cuba!

The Casa is perfectly located: it is pretty close to the centre of Viñales (max. 10 min walk) yet situated on a quiet street that leads down to the Valley and plantations. Casa el Musico is in one end of a big garden with a patio and yard, and in the other end they keep their animals.

Jorge and Betty were the most welcoming and charming hosts. They are very generous and caring, and share a great sense of humour. We had a lot of fun with them and their other guests, and we are so happy to have met them!

Jorge was very willing to help us arrange activities. He set up a fantastic guided hike through the valley with a young guide named Roberto, whose family has a plantation in the area. Roberto had great knowledge of both the plantations and the surrounding nature, and we were able to see local animals, caves, coffee and tobacco plantations, different kinds of fruit and medicinal plants.

Jorge also arranged for us to have a lovely dinner at a local Paladar called el Campesino, and helped us call and confirm our booking at our next Casa.

How was your room?: Our room was small but very clean and with our own en suite bathroom. Our room had a private entry from the patio. It was very hot when we were there, and we were glad that there was Air conditioning. The AC was effective, yet noisy. On the patio outside our room was a lounging area with a great view of the garden (with little chicklets running around!) and the small road leading down to the valley. A great place to sit in the evening, sipping on a Bucanero!

How was the food they offer?: Jorge and Betty served us breakfast each morning for an additional 5 CUC. The breakfast included coffee, juice, eggs (the way we prefered; we had omelette and fried eggs), bread with butter, ham and cheese, a lovely plate of fresh locally grown fruit and sweet little pancakes with honey.

One night we had dinner in the casa for 10 CUC/person. We had decided this beforehand through e-mail and had the possibility to pre order if we wanted chicken, pork, fish or lobster. We had chicken and fish. They were perfectly cooked and served with rice, black beans, fried plantains and fresh vegetables.

Other services they offer: They can arrange taxi reservations.

Other comments: They were in the process of building a roof a terrace while we were there. The view from up there is beautiful; you can see the valley and the Mogotes!

My review: La maison est située à l'écart du village, donc au calme, mais à 6 minutes de marche du centre.
Jorge et Betty sont des hôtes très attentionnés, et font tout leur possible pour rendre le séjour des clients agréable.
Le petit déjeuner est excellent, très copieux, et les repas sont succulents.
Ma chambre donnait sur le jardin, et était parfaite, bonne literie, ventilateur, grande salle de bains moderne, eau chaude toute la journée.

How was your room?: Très jolie chambre, 2 lits, une bonne literie, des draps agréables.
Salle de bains en carrelage vert très fonctionnelle.
How was the food they offer?: Repas et petits déjeuners très bons, nourriture fraîche et bien cuisinée.
Other services they offer: Jorge et Betty peuvent trouver un guide, un taxi, organiser une sortie, une balade.

My review: Pasamos tres buenos dias en la casa de Jorge y Betty y su hijo. Estuvieron muy amables, la casa bien situado con maravillosa vista hacia los mogotes. Lo recomendamos por 100%!
How was your room?: El cuarto estuvo muy limpio, con dos grandes camas y un bano pequeno pero muy moderno.
How was the food they offer?: Tuvimos desayuno, que fue genial con los pencakes mas ricos y cafe, leche, pan, miel y frutas....la cena tambien genial, saben cocinar bien! Y siempre habia mucha comida :)
Other comments: Gracias por todo, lo disfrutamos mucho en su casa!

Casa el musico

My review: Casa el Musico was one of the friendliest and well located casa we stayed in. Jorge, Jorge's son Jorge and Betty were so lovely and welcoming. They supplied us with walking tours, bikes, lovely dinners and anything else we needed during our stay - not to mention a top breakfast with delicious pancakes. The room was very private and well kitted out, while the hosts were really attentive and helpful. The location was great because it was down the road from the main street but also looked on to the mountains and was quiet at night. We highly recommend this casa!
